We are excited to present an rare introductory Showing Presentation of signature movement language by the critically-acclaimed United States Based choreographer Robert Sher-Machherndl of Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet. Audience members are to experience excerpts of his original solo choreography over wine and moderated conversation.

Award-winning Robert Sher-Machherndl creates strikingly imaginative, intensely emotional, distinctly progressive work in collaboration with the most highly-skilled ballet dancers on today’s stage.  In an evolutionary keenness to reinvent classical vocabulary, Sher-Machherndl advances contemporary ballet vocabulary past routine interaction into regions of unexpected possibility. Principal Dancers from American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Ballet to Finnish National Ballet perform his ground-breaking and innovative choreographies.

This highly anticipated occasion marks a Viennese premiere event and rare opportunity to meet this world-class artist in person.

About Lemon Sponge Cake

Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet was founded in 2004 by international dancer/choreographer Robert Sher-Machherndl and partner Jenifer Sher. Its mission is to bring new concepts and realities to the field of dance and its audiences, via the performance of new work, new choreography that takes risk, and express the unpredictable and unexpected. Robert Sher-Machherndl integrates ballet technique with contemporary movement to become a powerful vehicle to depict modern life. The results are strikingly imaginative, intensely emotional, thought provoking and distinctly progressive. Lemon Sponge Cake has toured in the United States and Europe and received critical-acclaim nationally internationally, noted for an uncompromising artistic vision, signature choreographic style, highly-skilled performers and collaborators.

About Robert Sher-Machherndl
International choreographer Robert Sher-Machherndl, a native of Austria, has been a principal dancer, choreographer, master-teacher and artistic director.  He’s been granted the privilege of the US Visa type, Alien of Extraordinary Ability.
As principal dancer with Dutch National Ballet & Bavarian State Ballet he mastered repertoire from George Balanchine, Sir Fredrick Ashton and John Cranko. Lead roles include Swan Lake, Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, Onegin; Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Nuages, Apollo; Stravinsky Violin Concerto, Serenade; Symphony in C, Diamonds, Concerto Barocco, Agon, La Valse, Divertimento No. 15, Hammerklavier, Grosse Fuge, Bad Blood.  He’s collaborated with Rudolf Nureyev, Jiri Kylian, Hans van Manen, Ulysses Dove, Ed Wubbe, Ben Stevenson, Rudi van Dantzig, Maurice Bejart and John Neumeier.  Robert has been partner to principal dancer Jolinda Menendez,American Ballet Theater and Evelyn Hart, Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He’s been a member of Nederlands Dance Theater, co-director of Salzburg Ballet and assistant to artistic director Ed Wubbe at Scapino Ballet.
Robert’s a founder of critically-acclaimed Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet and full-evening works include UnCut, Point, PlastikPaket, StrangeLands, LoveCrimes, AustriaPop, Where Is the Love, AustriaPop Vol 2, Vertigo, Le Ballet Star; TigerLilly, Anilla, Mozart 250, Alien Nation, Leopoldstadt 22, Project Peace, Gala 2007,  I Am Happy For This Moment, This Moment Is Your Life, I Trust You To Kill Me, A Strange Land, Liquid-Space, Vertical Migration, Bach 260, Shiro Shiro, Anilla, Blueprint and Scarlet.  His work has been danced by world renowned Principal Dancers to include Susan Jaffe ABT, Michele Wiles ABT, Minna Tervamaki Finnish National Ballet & Simone Messmer ABT / San Francisco Ballet.
Robert has choreographed for Finnish National Ballet, YCW at Bavarian State Ballet, Scapino Ballet, Salzburg Ballet, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, Santa Fe Dance Festival, Ballet Next and taught master-classes and workshops at University of Colorado, Colorado State University, University of Wyoming, Finnish National Opera Ballet School, Kuopio Dance Festival, Lines Ballet, Moving People Dance and at many more locations. He was awarded 2010 Dance Person of the Year by the Denver Post, a four-time winner of the New York Ballet Builders Choreography Award, and featured on the MTV Emmy award winning series MADE.
